Adult Class OpportunitiesThe SUMC Men's Book Club This group will meet every other week beginning Wednesday July 7th at 7:15 PM in the annex.
The first book we will read is "The Omnivore's Dilemma: A Natural History of Four Meals" by Michael Pollan. At our first meeting we will discuss at least Part One of the Book.
We also discussed what type of books we liked to read and the group seemed to be open (almost omnivorish) to any type of non fiction. However history seemed to be the group's favorite meat. ( If you can detect a theme developing in this communication, it is unintentional). Of the non-fiction fare the group seemed to favor good historical non fiction. We decided that each one of us would try to bring two book titles to the next meeting July 7th from which we would pick the next reading selection.
We all decided that athough we may at some time read a good biography of John Wesley, this was not a book club just for Methodists. In fact we encouged each other to reach out to our many non methodist friends who might share our love of reading and healthy discussions.
Finally we also briefily dicussed rules for group discussions, which seemed to come down to only one. That we all leave each meetings as freinds. Contact Ross Fritschler for more details at rossf@hlpage.com
